Whole Pears In Grape Juice

Ingredients

1 cup dark grape juice Juice and zest of 1 orange

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

6 cloves

6 medium pears

2 teaspoons arrowroot

Sprigs of mint for garnish

Description

May also be served with a fruit sorbet if desired.

Directions

Mix the grape juice, orange juice and spices.

Peel the pears and leave whole with stems on.

Place in a saucepan with the liquid, add the orange zest and simmer gently for 30 minutes or until pears are tender, basting 2 or 3 times with juice.

Mix the arrowroot with a little water and pour into the mixture, stirring until it thickens.

Place the pears on a plate and spoon the juice over.

Garnish with the mint.
